Top-quark decays are sensitive probes of light charged Higgs bosons (๐ปยฑ) due to the sizable ๐‘กโขยฏ๐‘ก production cross section at the LHC in conjunction with their distinct experimental signatures. While dedicated ATLAS and CMS searches considered only ๐ปยฑ decays into ๐œโข๐œˆ, ๐‘โข๐‘ , or ๐‘โข๐‘ for ๐‘š๐ปยฑ <๐‘š๐‘ก, the ๐‘Šโข๐‘ channel remains unexplored, despite being the dominant mode in ๐‘†โข๐‘ˆโข(2)๐ฟ triplet models. Since top-quark pair production with ๐‘ก โ†’๐ปยฑโก๐‘ and ๐ปยฑ โ†’๐‘Šโข๐‘ gives rise to ๐‘กโขยฏ๐‘กโข๐‘-like signatures, we recast existing ๐‘กโขยฏ๐‘กโข๐‘ analyses to search for signs of charged Higgs bosons and set novel limits on the product of branching fractions Brโก(๐‘กโ†’๐ปยฑโก๐‘)ร—Brโก(๐ปยฑโ†’๐‘Šโข๐‘). These constraints turn out to be at the sub-permille level, despite the observed 2โข๐œŽ preference for a nonzero value. Interpreted within the hypercharge ๐‘Œ =0 Higgs triplet model, this translates into a stringent constraint on the triplet Higgs vacuum expectation value of ๐‘ฃฮ” โ‰ฒ2โ€‰โ€‰GeV, which is stronger than those from the ๐‘โข๐‘ ,๐œโข๐œˆ modes and even surpasses electroweak precision constraints from the ๐œŒ parameter. Moreover, the 2โข๐œŽ preference for a nonzero cross section further strengthens the cumulative case for a โ‰ˆ152โ€‰โ€‰GeV boson as suggested, in particular, by diphoton excesses.en_US
