Abstract: Copper phthalocyanine (CuPc) thin film and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) of size ~ 20 nm were deposited on conducting indium tin oxide coated glass substrates. Thin films were ~ 500 nm thick having crystalline nature determined by surface profilometer and X-ray diffraction technique. The concentration of Au NPs in the films was varied whereas the concentration of CuPc was constant. It was observed that surface morphology varied with Au NP concentration increase in the films accompanied by changes in the optical spectra over 300-1000 nm range and increase in the electrical conduction but no changes in the Fourier transform infra-red spectra. Such nanocomposite films would be useful in the fabrication of organic solar cells.
