Abstract: A homochiral luminescent porous coordination polymer, [Cd(L)(H2O)]·3H2O, with interconnected collagen like triple-helical chains has been synthesized solvothermally by using cadmium(II) salt and a newly designed d-isosorbide-based, enantiomerically pure chiral ligand. The framework is a 2D porous material and forms a 1D channel along the a axis, with the channel dimensions ∼6.2 × 4.4 Å2. The compound has high selectivity in the uptake of water and methanol over other solvents (e.g., tetrahydrofuran, ethanol, benzene, and cyclohexane) inside the channels.
