Abstract: Use of electronic devices has become an integral part of our day to day activities; a major part of it is associated with storing, receiving, and sending information. The domains of piezoelectricity and triboelectricity (friction) are two important phenomena, which are majorly employed in harvesting mechanical energy through devices known as piezoelectric nanogenerators (NG) and triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG). The former one deals with mechanical impact, vibration or deformation-induced changes in electric polarization and the corresponding voltage and displacement current output. The latter one deals with a real charge separation between two material systems driven by different frictional avenues. Herein, we describe the fabrication of piezoelectric/triboelectric nanogenerators of polymer composites composed of organic/inorganic materials and naturally occurring (green) precursors. The present thesis deals with materials and device developments to harness, store and apply mechanical energy around us.
