Abstract: Pincer ligands have emerged as a handy class of ligands in the past years. When complexed with metals, these ligands form highly active catalysts which can be used in organic transformations. In this thesis, we have synthesized a PN3P ligand. The PN3P ligand is a versatile ligand with respect to its coordination properties towards the transition metals and its superiority in homogenous catalysis. We have used the Fe and Co complexes for the hydroboration of Aldehydes successfully. Our future idea lies to convert these complexes to Lewis acidic cationic species and exploit them for water splitting properties.
