Abstract: Li-S batteries have gained plenty of attention recently owing to their advantages over the Li-ion batteries. In the present work, Tin coated porous carbon substrate is prepared as an anode for its use in a Li-S battery by electrodeposition route. Electrodeposition of Tin composites (Tin and Tin Oxide) has been done on porous carbon paper (CFP). These materials' structural and morphological features are studied using Field emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). Electrochemical measurement studies of anodes are studied using Half-cell measurements (Charge Discharge cycles (CDC), Cyclic Voltammetry (CV), Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Cycle stability). Some of the challenges of Li-S batteries were tried to reduce by using the porous activated carbon fibre paper. The discharge capacity of best tin oxide anode achieved was 1172 mAh/g at discharge rate of 1Apg. The tin oxide anode synthesized by electrodeposition route looks promising for the Li-S battery.
