Abstract: The responsibility for genesis of both Arts and Science can be attributed to human imagination and the perception of reality. Science fiction has played a pivotal role in bringing about the symbiosis of these two modes of cognition and communication. Many artistic representations of science in fiction has inspired actual inventions and has pushed science forward. This study seeks to explore the realms of science fiction which influenced science and impacted our reality. This study explores themes and topics in works of science fiction that not only were artistic masterpieces but also created a long lasting impact in our approach to science. The major topics discussed are the concept of reality and its impact on our perception of it and how it can be further explored by science, the concept of intelligence and the direction it is headed towards, the concept of labour and how it has changed with the advent of modern science and the way forward, the concept of conflict among humans and their impacts through the lens of science, and the utopic and dystopic visions presented to us by science. The study also raises questions that needs to be discussed and topics that need to be further explored through science fiction, before it is achieved in reality by science.
