Abstract: | Ion transporters are known to induce apoptosis in the cancer cell and, hence, are a potential candidate for a cancer-curing drug. But unfortunately they have a downside of being unable to differentiate between cancer cells and normal human cells. One of the best ways to overcome this problem is to develop a stimuli-responsive ion transporter, which will enable the ion transporter to target the cancer cell specifically. Keeping in mind that the concentrations of reactive oxygen species like hydrogen peroxide are elevated in cancer tissue, we developed a phenyl boronic ester caged bis salicylamide ion transporter, which can be activated in the presence of higher concentrations of hydrogen peroxide. |
