Abstract: | The first observation of the decay Ξβπ βπβ‘(2β’π)β’Ξβ and measurement of the branching ratio of Ξβπ βπβ‘(2β’π)β’Ξβ to Ξβπ βπ½/πβ’Ξβ are presented. The π½/π and πβ‘(2β’π) mesons are reconstructed using their dimuon decay modes. The results are based on proton-proton colliding beam data from the LHC collected by the CMS experiment at βπ =13 TeV in 2016β2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fbβ1. The branching fraction ratio is measured to be β¬β‘(Ξβπβπβ‘(2β’π)β’Ξβ)/β¬β‘(Ξβπβπ½/πβ’Ξβ)=0.8β’4+0.21β0.19β’(stat)Β±0.10β’(syst)Β±0.02β’(β¬), where the last uncertainty comes from the uncertainties in the branching fractions of the charmonium states. New measurements of the Ξπβ’(5945)0 baryon mass and natural width are also presented, using the Ξβπβ’π+ final state, where the Ξβπ baryon is reconstructed through the decays π½/πβ’Ξβ, πβ‘(2β’π)β’Ξβ, π½/πβ’Ξβ’πΎβ, and π½/πβ’Ξ£0β’πΎβ. Finally, the fraction of Ξβπ baryons produced from Ξπβ’(5945)0 decays is determined. |
