dc.description.abstract The zonal-mean representation of the Hadley circulation provides a simple and effective framework for describing the global tropical circulation. However, such zonal averaging may obscure important regional meridional circulation characteristics. Therefore, the overarching goal of this thesis is to advance the understanding of regional Hadley circulations, with particular emphasis on how their structure, seasonal variability, and long-term evolution differ across longitudinal sectors, and on identifying the region-specific mechanisms that govern these differences en_US
