Abstract:
First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Arnav Saha and Tushar Manik Sherkhane are co-first authors on ‘ Differential AXL expression and Arf1 regulation control stiffness-dependent Golgi organization in breast cancer cells’, published in JCS. Arnav conducted the research described in this article as a PhD student in Prof. Nagaraj Balasubramanian's lab at IISER Pune, Pune, India, where he investigates cell–extracellular matrix (ECM) adhesion and organelle mechanobiology, with an emphasis on their role in cancers. Tushar Manik conducted the research described in this paper while a MS thesis student and Junior Research Fellow in Prof. Nagaraj Balasubramanian's lab, and is now a PhD student in the lab of Prof. Dr. Daniel Müller at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering, ETH Zurich, Basel, Switzerland, investigating how cells sense and decode the ECM, using interdisciplinary approaches.
