Abstract:
This Thesis is focussed on the preparation and applications of multiple quantum
coherence such as MSSM(Many some, + Some many) States and N00N
state(quantum mechanical many-body entangled state) in star topology molecules
such as Trimethylphosphite(TMP) and Triisopropylphosphite,where j0100i+
j1011i, where j0i denotes spin up and j1i denotes spin down, is a particlular
example of MSSM for four spin 1
2 system and the N00N State can be represented
by j N00Ni = p1

(jN"; 0#i + j0";N#i (Nspins up; zero spin down +
zero spin up;Nspins down), where N is the number of spins.The technique
of preparing multiple quantum coherence is used to study slow diffusion of
TMP in liquid crystal EBBA and the N00N state has been generated in
both the molecules. Also, we demonstrate how spin polarisation transfer
from one nucleus which has higher gyromagnetic ratio to other nucleus(with
lower gyromagnetic ratio) using Insensitive Nuclear Enhancement by Polarisation
Transfer(INEPT) can enhance the signal of the nucleus to which spin
polarisations are transferred.
